AWARD MEMBERSHIP DRIVE IN NEW ZEALAND SHOWS STRONG SUPPORT FOR CHANGE

AWARD's recent successful membership drive in New Zealand has proven the creative organisation has strong support on both sides of the Tasman, as well as Asia, for the changes that have been planned from mid June onwards. Lynchy at CB even handed over his infamous Legendary Lunch to AWARD - which is held twice yearly in Auckland - and as a result, over 50 new members came on board. (The catch was, the invite was for AWARD members only).
The CB/AWARD Legendary Lunch was held in Sydney last week and the Melbourne one is this Thursday, with the result that over 200 new members have now joined AWARD.
Whilst entry levels from NZ to the AWARD Awards are very high, personal membership was previously miniscule, with most NZ creatives perceiving it to be most beneficial to Sydney AWARD members. Says one Auckland CD: "The tie up with the Legendary Lunches at least gives us something more than just the AWARD annual, it's a great chance to catch up with our peers over a most enjoyable long lunch."
The CB/AWARD Legendary Lunch, which was held at Toto's in late May, was sponsored by Perceptual Engineering and The Sweet Shop. Paul Prince, MD of The Sweet Shop, is co chairman of AWARD. Here are some pics from the day, courtesy of Lynchy.

Is AWARD membership only for creatives, or can anyone join? I hear you don't actually have to have anything in the AWARD Book to become a member. Is that true?

Pretty much anyone - well, anyone in the advertising/design industry can join. But if you want to be a Gold member with judging and voting rights, you have to have been in the book. It's less hard-to-get-into than D&AD where you definitely have to have been in the book. But it's worth it, I think.

Have a nosy at their website - www.awardonline.com

This blog has over-steered from crass and offensive to lame and boring. Well done, it's just like the Australian one now.

I can't understand the point of the NZ blog if it's just a cut and paste clone of the Aussie one. Come on blog master (and let's be honest, most people know who you are) how about a statement of intent, what happened etc. You started the monster, explain yourself.
