Zephyr?

Unashamedly patriotic pitch for new business in the Herald this morning from an agency called Zephyr WPD positioning itself as the new New Zealand advertising agency. Who is Zephyr? Anyone?

Its the two fellas from Colenso who left after a 'fall out' with Richard Maddox.
They left with the intention of taking the BNZ business.
That failed.
So they met some suit and started up a new agency named after an old agency in Westhaven who had an office next to the really crap Buccaners Bar and Grill.

So, good on them.

They have my support.

The last thing we need is another ad agency owned by WPP, OMD and the other group of lawyers and accountants, and run by a bunch of useless poms.

Maybe they're the same guys from that old Air NZ. You might just see them playing some stock music on a building next to the BNZ Centre.

Good on them. Good to see new start ups.

As for the prick who said the "last we need is another agency owned by WPP, OMD...." who the fuck does he/she think is going to but Zephyr after it becomes successful (as it will) and they want to exit the business? Promotus? Hyde Group? Walkers? H&T? Dobbs Marketing? No. Probably the very same people Zephyr, ironically, are against in their Herald ad this morning. If we didn't have the multi-nationals we wouldn't have the industry we have now. And then Zephyr wouldn't have a reason for being. Grow up.

Dear 1.26

You're a sad-arsed company person, aren't you?

I bet you'll be reading this over the Easter break, whilst at work tidying your desk and writing meaningless Call Reports, hoping that the Asia/Pacific boss notices you and promotes you to GM ahead of that other really bright fella who for some reason bonds so well with the creative department.

The big boys need us for a network. Not for the cash. Go talk to our Finance Director, he/she'll tell you what things are really like outside the relative comfort of the blinkered world of a middle-management suit.

Dear 6.32

No, I'm not a sad arsed company man - just someone watching my own shares prosper! And no, I wasn't at my desk over Easter - I can afford not to be. And I am still wondering why people like you haven't the balls to do their own start up (like Wazza & Q).
