WHO DID THAT PINBALL WIZARD IDEA FIRST?
An Aussie blogger points out that the current BMW pinball outdoor poster, created by Colenso BBDO Auckland, is the same concept as an outdoor poster created by FCB Melbourne for Honda two years ago. It was featured in CB's 'Seen+Noted' at the time.
As a creative you should ask yourself, does this idea feel like it could have be done before. If so keep thinking. Be hard on yourself. Most creatives are still stuck in first idea mode if you ask me.
That is a classic example. Bit of a average idea all the same.
Chill out. I doubt if it was made with the expectation of winning awards. I think it's a decent pro job. And as for the 'does this idea feel like it has been done before.' what a redundant comment.
Grant ya dick, most clients DONT pay for creativity. They pay for stuff that looks like stuff they have seen before, stuff they know their boss will be happy with, stuff that they have done before and feel comfortable with, stuff that wont rock the boat.

Poor Colenso. Their sensor light metrolite idea for TV3 has also been done before, but better. It was for a security light company and was in D&AD.

This is nothing.
The most blatent rip-off is Mojo's Amnesty International idea with the candle burning through ropes. It was taken directly from a print ad.
And they knew about it.
And it's not like the so called creative has been innocent in the past.

This was originally done by CP+B for Volkswagen USA online. So both Australia Auckland are miles off

Don't ask me why, but I have a copy of it. Futura Extra Bold was very, very big back then.

Hey 2.47,
Clients pay for creativity. Don't rip them off.

I think the real question here should be... who the hell would drive a 2 door bmw?
8:28 am NZST
why worry? colenso's always ripping off ideas - i think back to a metrolite for V same but worse than a panadol ad in shopping centres

Hey 8:28 AM
Brownie, new GM at Lowe, drives a 2-door Bemmer.
And he's hard (but not as hard as Cam was).
So there.

Pretty sure I know who you mean. A one-man HKM revival.

Are you guys blind? This is not a rip off. The FCB version is a pinball machine, the Colenso one is a toilet plunger stuck in the muffler.
Dummies.
